Neonatal Baby Quilts

Neonatal Baby Quilts

Since 1996, members of Quilters by the Sea have made and donated over 2000+ baby quilts  to the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center. These quilts are placed over the isolets of the babies in crisis, not only to block out the light and noise of the unit, but also to lift the spirits of the parents and staff. The quilts go home with the babies when they are released

Want to make a baby quilt for the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit?  Sign up for the workshops sponsored by QBTS.  Kits are provided that include fabric cut for the top, batting, backing, and binding fabric.  Come and sew with us!!

The minimum size for a baby quilt for the NICU is 40″ x 40″.   They should be machine quilted at a minimum of 4 inches apart (close enough to withstand many washings) and binding on the edge should be machine stitched. No embellishments or ties should be used.
